What is ENAS
ENAS is the European Network of Academic Sport Services. The Network aims to foster the development of "sport for all" in Higher Education. ENAS was founded in 1997 in Chambéry/France by professionals of Academic Sports Services for having an exchange about university sports. Since the conference at Muenster/Germany in 2001 ENAS is an official non-governmental organization with its own constitution.
The purpose of ENAS is:
- to develop communication between Academic Sport Services
- to exchange ideas and experiences of different countries in the field of recreation, health, culture and physical education
- to encourage the mobility of professionals (peeople involved in sport services) and students
- to promote recognition of the Academic Sport Services in Europe
Having a target group of a few million students and thousands of Academic Sport Services employees, ENAS can be an integrative element for the European movement. Academic Sport Services are an important social, cultural and communicative part of higher educational institutes. Every year ENAS organises conferences at an Academic Sport Service location of its member countries, which non-members can also take part in. The membership is open to any higher education Sport Service in Europe who applies for it and pays about 100 Euro membership fee. Applications for membership are reviewed by the Executive Committee who submits them to the General Assembly. During the conference the members and participants are having an exchange with experts from all over Europe about items as:
- structure and organization of Academic Sport Services and national University Sport Federations (analysis, research, development)
- topics referring to developments at academic institutions and Academic Sports Services in Europe
- evaluation and research on Academic Sports Services
- brand management * finances of Academic Sports Services
- sport facilities (concepts, finances, developments)
- Academic Sports and politics
- cultural aspects of University Sports
- management methods and several other topics based on the desires and needs of Academic Sport Services.
